Many Disciples Desert Jesus

John 6:60-71

Following the feeding of the 5,000, Jesus begins to teach deeper truths.  As things begin to sound difficult, numerous followers decide that following Jesus is not worth the effort.

While the feeding of the 5,000 may have been the height of Jesus' popularity, many people are not gathered for His teachings.  Instead they had come to witness His miracles.

Only a few were following Jesus for His teachings.  Peter responds rightly when He tells Jesus that there is no one else to go to as He is the only one with the words of life.  The many who deserted Jesus didn't want this but something else instead.
